In the seventh century, Damo Chanshi [the Chan Master Bodhidharma] travelled to China by boat, staying at Tuen Mun on the way to receive examination. According to legend, he lived for a while in a cave in the mountain, so the cave is consecrated as a pilgrimage destination for nearby Buddhists.
Therefore, Damo Chanshi Statue is set for worshippers to worship. Beside the Damo Chanshi Statue is the place for dining, where Managing Trustees of The Charitable Trust of Tsing Shan Monastery entertains worshippers with free vegetarian meals during Buddhist ceremonies.
Near the Damo Chanshi Statue and the Shantang, there are stone tables and chairs where tourists may sit under the trees and enjoy the scenery of Tuen Mun. |
