They are beside the Buer Famen [Absolute Gate of the Law]. Fuhu Luohan Fo [Subjugating Tiger Arhat], called “Bintoulu”, is one of the eighteen Arhats. According to legend, there was a tiger roaring outside the temple where he resided one day. He thought the tiger must be hungry and fed it. After that, he and the tiger became good friends, and people called him Fuhu Luohan Fo.
The roof of the Fuhu Luohan Fo is highlighted by a red Baoding [Precious Top] with the four ridges with curled-up ends. The Qianfo Bi beside it is finished with glazed tiles with floral patterns or inscribed with the names of Buddhas. |
